North Wales, August 2011
This year’s trip to Snowdonia was again based on the campsite alongside the A5 between Betws-y Coed and Capel Curig. On arrival on Thursday evening we found several members pitching their tents, and others having arrived on Wednesday, were settled in and had already done a days climbing.

Here is the report from this year’s trip by club nephew, Sam….
Archie’s Last Munro
When Archie sent our Xmas card he said keep 30th April free there’s going to be a celebration. Tricia got quite excited as she thought it must be a wedding, so she looked through her selection of hats to find one suitable for the occasion. Unfortunately for her, when we met Archie on the Scotland trip the celebration was to join him to celebrate him doing his last Munro.
Fontainbleau, May 2011
Two reports from this trip, first from Tim followed by Jenny…
Dorset Ramblings
Poor weather forecasts and scaffolding left just a hardy few going to Dorset for the late May weekend. Still, we made the best of it, although there was no climbing. (Bad finger.) Dick had to walk 3 days in a row. (Someone please help him.) Woodyhyde campsite was packed. Mainly families with children.
Treasure Hunting along the Royal Military Canal
A select band of club members (Jane, Kim, Nick and Ruth) were planning to go for a walk on Easter Monday. With one of the crew recently discovering the delights of geocaching, a route was decided on that gave the opportunity for a few good searches. Geocaching involves hunting down ‘caches’ that are hidden throughout the world, through the aid of GPS and sometimes a clue (http://www.geocaching.com/).
Hastings Rock and Fell Club go to Dorset
An on and off club tradition of a climbing trip to the sea cliffs of Swanage on Good Friday, was honoured this year with a group of eight members congregating at the Cattle Troughs area for a season opener.
