Hastings Rock & Fell Peak District Weekend

Hastings Rock & Fell Peak District Weekend

Although numbers were down on the trip, as compared with some years I think that all who attended had a good time. The club again used the campsite at Hardhurst Farm, which was busy, but not overcrowded. It was midge – free, and this year the railway did not seem to produce as much noise as on the previous visit.

Activities involved rock climbing, at locations such as Rivelin, Stanage, Bamford and Lawrencefield. A swim in the municipal pool in Hathersage was most welcome on one afternoon, as the weather for the most part could only be described as HOT. The cycling party also covered the miles, with many categorised climbs and cols ascended.

The travelling did not seem to be too arduous even with a section of the motorway being shut on the way home.

It was good to meet up with Alex and his mate, although only fleetingly, as they arrived just as we were leaving. (Hope you had an enjoyable week.)
