Derbyshire 2025
A mixed bag of climbers, walkers, bikers made it to the new campsite chosen for this year’s outing – Pindale Farm near Castleton. Situated as it is, right next to the cement works, there were some doubts as to the beauty of this choice, but it worked out well.
Fontainebleau 2025
It was my first proper climbing trip away since my replacement knee operation in February 2024 and I had hit the tender age of 71 this year, so I was a little nervous.
Scotland 2025
The annual visit North of the Border was, I think very successful, apart from one incident of which more later. The weather, which always has some input into the trip could be called a bit variable at the start of the week, with lots of rain showers. This did have at least one plus point as it create the most spectacular waterfall, at Chia Aig, one of the side glens into our valley.
Derbyshire 2024
For many years now we have based ourselves at the Hardhurst Farm campsite, and this trip carried on with that tradition. Members, families and friends began arriving on Thursday and soon began occupying our usual corner of the tent field.

A short personal report on the Club’s recent adventures north of the border.
First a big thanks to everyone who made the journey to Killin (though this is probably the most southerly of our venues), for making this a most enjoyable trip.
Scottish Winter Trip – Killin
Our trip to Loch Tay was sandwiched between two major storms, Ciara and Dennis and, the wind never really abated. Gary’s mountain weather App was checked religiously every morning. Every morning it stated that the wind speed was between 70-100 MPH on Ben More, Ben Nevis or any other significant summit. However, there was plenty of snow.
Alpe-Adria Trail
In 2016, when on a family visit to Austria, I spotted a way-marker for the Alpe-Adria Trail, near the church in Himmelberg, Carinthia . I knew then that I wanted to walk some of it.
The entire Alpe-Adria Trail (AAT) stretches 750km, from the Grossglockner, through the mountains of Carinthia, Slovenia and northern Italy, to the Adriatic Coast. It came into being 2011-2012, as part of a central european unity project.

Gower Folk Festival, June 2012
This was the third occasion that the club has attended this small yet very popular festival. The first time I had visions of Glastonbury, tens of thousands of people, mud, noise and head banging acts; it is none of these.
